What this policy covers
This policy covers the Fast Transcriber mobile app and the connected services used to sign in, process media and keep your transcript history. Fast Transcriber is provided by Malik Elate. In this policy, “we,” “us” and “our” refer to Fast Transcriber.
The main website has a separate website privacy policy. Opening other website pages may involve website analytics and cookies that are not part of this app legal page.
Information we process
- Account and sign-in information
- Your email address, account identifier, session information and current plan or usage limits. Our authentication provider also processes device and network information, including IP addresses and approximate location derived from IP, to operate and secure sign-in.
- Recordings, uploads and transcripts
- Audio you record, audio or video you upload, supported media links you submit, filenames and processing metadata. We process the resulting transcript, timestamps and available speaker labels, and associate saved history with your account.
- Product activity and diagnostics
- Information about requests, processing progress, successes and failures, usage limits and related reliability events. Events may be associated with your account identifier and plan.
- Support information
- Your contact details and the messages or attachments you choose to send when requesting help.
- Subscription information
- For an existing paid account, we process plan and subscription status to provide the appropriate access. Website payments are handled by Stripe; the native app does not provide a payment-card entry form.
Why we use information
We use information to authenticate your account, transcribe the media you submit, provide saved transcripts and exports, apply account limits and subscription entitlements, answer support requests, prevent abuse and maintain the service.
We use product-activity and reliability information to understand feature use and investigate failures. Mobile transcription analytics describe processing activity and outcomes; recordings and full transcript text are not included in these events.
Your uploads and transcripts are not published in a public feed by the app. If you export or share a transcript, the destination and the people you share it with control the copy they receive.
AI processing and service providers
Transcription is performed by a connected server service, not entirely on your device. Submitting media sends its contents and the information needed to process the request to that service and its processing providers.
- Authentication
- Clerk provides account authentication and session security.
- Transcription and speaker processing
- The service uses Groq for speech-to-text processing and supports Cloudflare processing and hosted speaker-detection services where configured. These services receive the audio or processing information required for the selected transcription workflow.
- Hosting and storage
- Hosting, database and file-storage providers support uploads, job processing and transcript history. The service uses Vercel and hosted database/worker infrastructure, with storage routes that support Vercel Blob, Cloudflare R2 or Wasabi depending on the processing workflow.
- Product analytics
- PostHog receives product-usage and reliability events associated with the service.
- Existing website subscriptions
- Stripe processes website payments and subscription administration.
Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their role, the requested feature and the service configuration determine which providers receive information. Contact us if you need details about a particular processing request.
How long information is kept
Account information and saved transcripts are kept to provide your account and history. They are not automatically removed when you close the app, sign out or uninstall it.
Original media is used while a transcription job is queued, processing or retrying. The processing system attempts to remove temporary source files after completion or a terminal failure. Cleanup can be delayed by retries or processing and storage failures; this is not a promise that every copy disappears immediately or within a fixed number of hours.
Support, security, diagnostic and billing records may be kept for the time needed to resolve requests, investigate abuse, maintain service reliability or meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the record’s purpose and any applicable legal requirement. Data retained in backups, if any, may remain until the backup is replaced or expires.
Your choices and deletion requests
You decide what media to submit. Microphone access is used for recording and can be revoked in your device settings. Denying microphone access does not require you to grant access to other media or your entire photo library.
You can request access, correction or deletion of your account information and associated transcripts by contacting support@fast-transcriber.com. Use the email address associated with your account where possible. We may ask for enough information to verify that the request concerns your own account.
We will explain any information that must be retained for a legal obligation or an unresolved security, billing or support matter. Your local law may provide additional rights, including objection or a complaint to a data-protection authority.
Deleting an account, uninstalling the app and canceling a paid subscription are different actions. Contact support if you need help with both account data and an existing subscription.
Security and sensitive content
The app uses authenticated account access and encrypted network connections to communicate with the service. Transcription requires the service and its processing providers to access the media you submit; it is not end-to-end encrypted processing.
No online system can guarantee absolute security. Only submit content you are permitted to process, obtain the necessary recording permissions, and avoid including sensitive information that is not needed for your task.
Policy updates and contact
We may update this policy as the app or our practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be described in the updated policy and communicated where required.
For privacy questions or requests, email support@fast-transcriber.com. The app terms of service explain the conditions for using Fast Transcriber.
