Convert MP3 to SRT

Start with the final audio edit

Use the MP3 version that will appear in your published video or player. Removing an introduction, inserting an advert, or moving a passage afterwards can shift the captions. If you place the MP3 partway along a video timeline, account for that starting position when you import the SRT into your editor.

Review both text and timing

Check proper names and unclear dialogue against the recording, then preview the exported subtitles with the media. Look for cues that appear too early, disappear before a sentence finishes, or contain too much text to read comfortably. Make any timing and line-break adjustments in your caption or video editor.

Speech transcription is also only part of preparing accessibility captions. Add relevant speaker identification and meaningful sound descriptions where your audience needs them; do not assume every non-speech sound will appear in an automatically generated transcript.

Publish the subtitle file with its media

Upload the SRT as a caption track when your destination supports it, or import it into an editor to style and render visible captions. Downloading an SRT does not burn text into the video. If a web player requires VTT, export that format or convert your reviewed SRT without transcribing the audio again.
