Convert MP3 to VTT Captions

Use the audio version your player will play

Upload the final MP3 edit so the caption times match the recording you publish. If the audio will sit inside a video with an opening title or another offset, account for that placement in your caption workflow. Editing out a pause after transcription also changes the alignment of everything that follows it.

Check the file in its destination

Export VTT, then add the file through your destination's caption or text-track controls. The download contains text and timing; it does not publish a web player or embed itself into the MP3. Check the platform's supported caption format and preview the track with the actual media before sharing it.

Review names, specialist vocabulary, and cue boundaries while listening. If you are preparing accessibility captions, also consider speaker identification and meaningful non-speech sounds. Add that context where necessary in your caption editor instead of assuming a speech transcript covers every audible event.

Reuse reviewed captions across formats

When another destination asks for SRT, convert the reviewed VTT file rather than starting transcription again. If you already have an SRT for this exact MP3 edit, convert it to VTT instead. Format conversion carries existing text and timing into a different subtitle structure; it does not correct wording or synchronize captions with a changed recording.
