Transcription Accuracy Comparison: FastTranscriber vs Otter vs TurboScribe

In our speed test, FastTranscriber was the fastest transcription service by a wide margin. But speed means nothing without accuracy. A transcript full of errors is worthless no matter how fast it arrives.

So we ran the same 5 services through an accuracy test using the exact same file.

How we tested

We used the same 9:47 Matthew McConaughey speech (17.3 MB MP4) from our speed comparison. We transcribed it with each service, then compared every transcript against a manually verified reference transcript to calculate a word error rate (WER). Lower WER = better accuracy.

We also noted qualitative differences: punctuation, capitalization, speaker handling, and how each service dealt with McConaughey's distinctive delivery style.
